A man stole an ambulance in Chicago and took it on a wild ride through Wisconsin.
The Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office said 23-year-old Michael Buckner was a hospital patient in Chicago and was being taken Monday from one facility to another in an ambulance.
But he escaped his restraints and took off with the emergency vehicle.
Deputies say by 6:50 a.m. Buckner made it all the way to Ozaukee County, north of Milwaukee, then crashed into a semi and went flying into a ditch on northbound I-43.
After the crash, a Good Samaritan stopped and gave Buckner a ride. While driving with Buckner, the Good Samaritan told police he became concerned for his safety and decided to pull over and call authorities.
When the driver exited the vehicle to dial 911, Buckner stole his car, too, police said.
Deputies eventually tracked Buckner down.
While in custody, investigators say Buckner also attacked three deputies. They were not seriously hurt.
