SOUTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A section of I-95 is back open after a fatal motorcycle crash in South Philadelphia.

The incident occurred in the southbound lanes near the exit ramp for the Walt Whitman bridge just after 11 p.m. Friday.

The 26-year-old victim was riding at a high rate of speed when he lost control and hit a guardrail.

The victim was taken to Hahnemann Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police shut down the highway to just one lane as they investigated.

The scene was cleared around 3 a.m. Saturday.
