INDIAN RIVER INLET, Del. (WPVI) -- The Coast Guard had to rescue five people after an engine fire on a boat near the Indian River Inlet Bridge in Delaware.

Someone on-board the 36-foot vessel put the distress call in around 5:30 a.m. Sunday.

Authorities say the group was out to go fishing when the engine started making strange noises and smoke began to fill the cabin.

All five passengers were safely rescued without injury.

No word what caused the engine to catch fire.
