PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- It was a big day for Philadelphia music, and the famous sound studio where so much of it was created.
Sigma Sound Studios in Center City was awarded a Pennsylvania historical marker Thursday. This was the official dedication ceremony, here at the site where it once stood, on 12th street.
Sigma sound studios--which was founded in 1968-- was the home of the "Sound of Philadelphia", which led to a genre of music that spawned hits by the likes of Gamble and Huff, The Ojay's and The Spinners.
And this location will forever be a part of Philadelphia's music history.
