Smoke billows from manhole in West Philadelphia

WEST PHILADELPHIA -- Smoke was billowing from a manhole on Monday morning in West Philadelphia.

The manhole cover reportedly popped off during the incident at 8 a.m. at 34th and Girard.

The view from Chopper 6 showed thick, black smoke rising into the air a short time later.

There were no injuries and no word on any power outages.

Some lanes are blocked in the area as power crews remain on the scene.
