VIDEO: Polar plunges raise thousands for a good cause
More than one thousand swimmers took a dip for the 16th annual Polar Bear Ocean Swim on Jan. 1, 2017.

MARGATE, N.J. (WPVI) -- The temperature will be the only thing plunging this weekend at some Jersey shore towns.

Communities have decided to postpone their annual polar bear plunge events due to the dangerous cold.

Margate announced that "the party will go on but the plunge will have to wait." Officials say the party will go on as planned New Year's Day, but the plunge has been rescheduled for January 7th.

The Brigantine Polar Bear Plunge has been postponed until Saturday, January 13, 2018.
