LAS VEGAS -- Mariah Carey says she hit the jackpot with her opening night audience at The Colosseum inside Caesars Palace for her nearly two-hour career retrospective.

On Wednesday night the pop icon joined the very Vegas club of performers who take up residence at a venue on the Strip. She shares The Colosseum's stage with rotating headliners Celine Dion, Elton John and Rod Stewart.

Her show "Mariah #1 to Infinity" catalogues her 18 number one hit singles in chronological order capping it off with her just released breakup ballad "Infinity."

The near-capacity crowd at Wednesday's show cheered with every one of Carey's characteristically piercing high notes.

Tickets cost $55 to $250 and Carey is scheduled to perform three nights a week in May and July for a total of 18 shows.
