Melanoma is one of the most common cancers among young people and a new survey says that young women are the most affected group.

Melanoma is one of the most common cancers among young people.



A new survey shows the number of cases has doubled since the 1970's - and young women are the most affected group.



In 2011, doctors say they accounted for two-thirds of all cases among people under 40.



They think the use of tanning beds is the driving factor.



In the meantime, melanoma among children has gone down.



The survival rate overall has gone up.



So while there are more cases, 95 percent are surviving five years or more.
