PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- There's a new app to help you park in Philadelphia and a catchy jingle to help you remember it.
The meterUP app was introduced Thursday morning at Philadelphia Parking Authority's main office in Center City.
Mayor-elect Jim Kenney and Vince Fenerty, the executive director of the PPA, were on hand to announce the pay-by-phone parking app.
The app allows drivers to pay for parking with their smartphones then electronically add more time.
To help people remember the new app, the launch event opened up with a song to the tune of 'If You're Happy and You Know It.'
Here are the lyrics in case you missed the live performance:
meterUP began Thursday in four pilot zones for six months.
The pilot zones are the areas bound by 4th and 20th streets and Arch and Locust streets, as well as along Columbus Boulevard from Spring Garden to Race Street, the Torresdale Train Station and PPA's 8th and Chestnut parking lot.
To promote the launch of meterUP, the first 5,000 people who use the app will receive up to one hour of free parking.
