A Montgomery County man was charged in the Sunday night shooting death of his girlfriend in Tullytown, Bucks Co.

Anthony Depolo, 33, of East Greenville, was arraigned on charges of criminal homicide and possession of an instrument of crime before Magisterial District Judge Robert Wagner Monday. He was ordered to be held without bail.

Depolo's girlfriend, Helen Lynn Farr, 45, was found lying on the ground in the 300 block of Main Street around 8:43 p.m. Sunday, authorities said.

According to the Bucks County's District Attorney's Office, Farr, who had no fixed address but who had been staying in Tullytown, was pronounced dead 1:15 a.m. Monday.

Police said Depolo had a semi-automatic handgun in a holster inside his pants. According to the arrest affidavit, he told police at the scene that Farr had taken his gun from the holster and shot herself.

Depolo was taken to the Tullytown Police Department where he was interviewed by Bucks County Detectives. Police said he initially denied arguing with or harming Farr, saying he had simply returned his gun to its holster after she shot herself.

The affidavit said after taking a break during the interview, Depolo admitted that he pulled out the gun and shot Farr as she came toward him during an argument.

According to police, Depolo said he fired one shot that struck Farr in the neck/chest area before putting the gun back in his holster.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. on October 10 in front of Judge Wagner.
