NEW YORK CITY (WPVI) -- Some people looking to escape the cold and snow with an afternoon at the movies, were forced out of those plans in Manhattan.

A sprinkler burst at the AMC Theater at 84th Street and Broadway, and the theater was forced to close early Monday afternoon because of frozen pipes.

One of the pipes burst and showered water all over a lobby while movie-goers were still inside.

The entire theater was evacuated for repairs.

The theater reopened at 7 p.m., after being closed for six hours.
