Pedestrian struck, killed in New Castle

NEW CASTLE, Del. (WPVI) -- A fatal crash Tuesday night left one man dead, and temporarily shut down a residential road.

It happened about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday on the 500 block of East Basin Road when an unidentified man was struck by a car. The driver stopped near the scene.

The pedestrian was rushed to Christiana Hospital and pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The road was closed until about midnight while investigators were on the scene.
