LOWER ALLOWAYS CREEK, N.J. -- Two of the three nuclear reactors at a southern New Jersey complex are offline.

One was taken down Sunday night because of a problem. The other is down for a regularly scheduled refueling.

PSEG Nuclear says Salem Unit 1 was offline for three days last week because of a wiring issue with a steam generator feed pump but returned to service Friday. But Sunday night, it shut down automatically because of an issue. The company says it's investigating why it was tripped and does not yet have a timetable for when it will be running again.

The Salem Unit 2 was taken offline Saturday for refueling, repairs and inspections. It is not clear how long it will take. Refueling is done every 18 months.
