$2K reward in fatal Camden hit-and-run

CAMDEN (WPVI) -- As authorities continue to try to identify and locate the men behind a fatal hit and run accident in Camden County, the victim's family is speaking out.

On Thursday, police announced a $2,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.

"You took my life, you took my mom. Mother's Day is in a week, how am I supposed to celebrate?" victim's daughter Taneeyah Walker said.

53-year-old Tia Walker, a former housekeeper at Camden City Hall, was a woman beloved by children, especially her three grandchildren.

"It's hard for me, it's going to be hard for my children because they don't really understand, she was a big part of my life," niece Munirah Yuen said.

It was a week ago Monday around 9:30 a.m. that Walker was walking from a relative's house.

She was about one and a half miles from her home when she was crossing the intersection of 7th and Newton.

It was then that she was struck by two men in a stolen car that were being pursued by Camden County Police. The men then got out of the car and fled on foot. Walker later died at Cooper University Medical Center.

"You're just going to take her life and not think nothing about it? Just leave and run? I can't imagine that. Who does that? How insane and inhumane of a person can you be?" Taneeyah Walker said.

There's now a big void in the Walker household. Their house is filled with sympathy cards from relatives and friends and decorations for an upcoming wedding tinged by sadness as they try desperately to move beyond the pain.

"She was helping me plan my wedding in four months. She's not going to be here to see me walk down the aisle. I'm in shock still, I'm in pain," Taneeyah Walker said.

There were witnesses on the scene, but so far no one has come forward to identify the two men still being sought.

"If anybody knows any information, please give us some closure because we're not going to ever get her back," Yuen said.

In a statement, a spokesman for the prosecutor's office they are dedicating resources to find out who was the driver of the vehicle and that detectives are working diligently to find answers for the victim's family.
