One resident and three firefighters had to be treated after fumes were reported in Newark, Del.

NEWARK, Del. (WPVI) -- One civilian and at least three firefighters were treated for exposure to unknown fumes in Newark, Delaware.

The incident occurred shortly after 5:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Hunters Crossing Apartments on the unit block of Fairway Road.

Fire crews responded for the report of fumes.

Upon arrival, firefighters declared a hazmat incident.

The building was evacuated and ventilated.

During the process, one resident was transported to an area hospital for care and three firefighters were treated at the scene.

The source of the fumes has not yet been determined.
