1 woman killed, 1 hurt in Berks Co. fire

SINKING SPRING, Pa. (WPVI) -- A deadly early morning apartment fire is under investigation in Berks County.

Authorities say a 24-year-old woman was killed when the flames broke out around 3:30 a.m. Monday in Sinking Spring.

A second woman, who is 21, was flown to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

Witnesses say both victims jumped from a third-story window to an alley below to escape the fire.

Four other people, including two children, escaped unharmed.
