Man critical after North Philadelphia fire

NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A man is in critical condition at Temple University Hospital following a house fire in North Philadelphia.

The blaze broke out around 12:50 p.m. Monday on the 3000 block of N. Mascher Street.

Arriving firefighters say they found heavy smoke on the first and second floors of the home.

The fire was placed under control at 1:14 p.m. and the cause remains under investigation.

There are no other reports of injuries.

Authorities are investigating what may have sparked the fire.
