SANTA ANA, Calif. (WPVI) -- Human remains have been found inside a refrigerator at a Santa Ana home, according to police.
Officials said police responded to a call of a dead person in the 1000 block of North Jackson Street.
When officers arrived, they said human remains were found in a refrigerator inside the garage of the home.
The body was found by someone who was renting out the garage from the homeowner, officials stated.
Police said the body is that of an adult female. Officials said the body was clothed and not dismembered.
It's not known how long the body has been in the refrigerator, but police said the refrigerator was left on.
Police questioned the homeowner to narrow down who rented the home and when they moved out.
"At this point, we don't know if it's natural causes, an overdose, or in fact a homicide. There just now reopening the refrigerator and they'll start their investigation," Anthony Bertagna with the Santa Ana Police Department said.
