MEADVILLE, Pa. -- A Pennsylvania man accused of smoking pot and listening to loud music while his toddler drowned in a bathtub will face trial on a child endangerment charge.

The Meadville Tribune reports 40-year-old Lonnel Hammond waived his right to a preliminary hearing on the charge Wednesday.

Meadville police say Hammond had left 2-year-old Shonnel unattended in the bathtub when she drowned May 20. He was arrested and jailed in December.

Hammond's public defender didn't immediately return a call for comment Thursday.
