Man charged in murder of wife in Stratford, N.J.

STRATFORD, N.J. (WPVI) -- Camden County officials say a man has been arrested in the fatal shooting of his wife.

Mario Flores, 33, is being charged with first-degree murder.

Police responded around 1:32 a.m. Friday to a residence in the unit block of Wright Avenue in Stratford, New Jersey.

Upon arrival, police found 35-year-old Roxanne Flores dead in her bedroom.

Around 12:50 a.m., police say an officer on patrol observed a blue Nissan Armada leaving the residence. The vehicle was seen traveling eastbound onto Route 30.

It was later revealed that vehicle belong to Mario Flores who, according to police, dropped off his daughter with relative's around 1 a.m.

Police say the couple got into an argument that involved a handgun.

During the investigation, police received information Mario Flores was near Alexandria, Virginia.

Police notified local authorities who detained Flores around 8 a.m. on Friday.

He is being held in Virginia awaiting extradition to New Jersey.
