CAMBRIDGE, Pa. (WPVI) -- Americans have a lot of misconceptions about the Zika virus, despite months in the news.

A Harvard School of Public Health survey of 12-hundred adults showed that 40 per cent didn't know the Zika virus can be transmitted sexually.

And about a third incorrectly believed Zika can be spread through coughing & sneezing.

71% didn't know of the link between the virus and the paralysis Guillain-Barre syndrome.

And a quarter of those either pregnant or considering pregnancy weren't aware of the link to the birth defect microcephaly
