PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Two former Philadelphia police officers have been found not guilty of wrongly beating a man during a traffic stop.

Sean McKnight, 31, and Kevin Robinson, 28, were accused of beating 23-year-old Najee Rivera without provocation during the stop in May, 2013 near North 7th and Somerset streets.

It was around 10:00 p.m. when the officers pulled over Rivera on his moped scooter.

The officers said Rivera fled after running a stop sign and they mistakenly believed he was a drug courier because others had been using scooters and ATVs to move guns and drugs.

Prosecutors say surveillance video contradicts their allegation that Rivera attacked them.

VIDEO obtained by Action News of the alleged assault

Rivera has since died, killed in a street fight back in December, 2015.
