TACONY (WPVI) -- A 10-year-old boy was injured in a scaffolding accident on a playground in the Tacony section of Philadelphia.

It happened around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday on the grounds of the Hamilton Disston Elementary School located in the 6800 block of Cottage Street.

Witnesses tell Action News several children were playing on scaffolding.

They say as it collapsed, the kids tried to jump off and run. One boy was hit in the head.

He was taken to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children with nonlife-threatening injuries.

Recently, the Philadelphia Eagles partnered with the school to enhance the playground area.

However, it's not clear if the work currently being done has anything to do with that partnership.

Police are investigating.
