HOCKESSIN, Del. -- Firefighters battled a massive house fire in Hockessin, Delaware.

The fire started just before 7:30 p.m. Wednesday on the 900 block of Crossan Road.

Upon arrival, crews reported heavy fire, and the house was fully involved.

All occupants were able to escape safely.

The fire was brought under control just before 9 p.m., officials say.

The residence was a total loss, and damage is estimated at approximately $350,000.

No injuries were reported.

The Red Cross of Delmarva is assisting five residents.

Unfortunately, the family dog died in the blaze.

No word on the cause of the fire at this time.
