Who shot 'Scooby?' Reward offered in Bensalem cat killing

BENSALEM, Pa. (WPVI) -- A $1,000 reward is being offered after a cat was shot and killed in Bensalem, Bucks County.

The pet cat, named 'Scooby,' was shot between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Monday, April 10 in the area of the Creekside Apartments on Knights Road.

The Bucks County SPCA is offering the reward for information leading to a conviction.

His owner said Scooby was friendly and played with children in the apartment complex.

When Scooby's owner found him injured, she took him to the veterinary clinic of the Women's Humane Society in Bensalem, but he couldn't be saved.

"Despite our veterinarian's best efforts, a pet owner has lost her beloved cat due to someone's cruel actions," said Cathy Malkemes, CEO of the Women's Human Society. "We are determined to work closely with the Bucks County SPCA Cruelty

Investigations Division to resolve this matter."

"We are asking members of the community to contact us immediately with any information about this tragic shooting so that the responsible person(s) can be held accountable for Scooby's death," said Linda Reider, Executive Director of the Bucks County SPCA.
