Interim police chief 1st African American to lead New Castle County police

NEW CASTLE, Del. (WPVI) -- The new man in charge of New Castle County police is making history.

Lt. Col. Vaughn Bond Jr. has become the first African American to lead the department in its 203-year existence.

He's serving as interim police chief after Colonel Elmer Setting announced his retirement this month.

Bond joined the force in 1991.
