2 officers hurt in scuffle with suspect in Rittenhouse Square

RITTENHOUSE SQUARE (WPVI) -- Two Philadelphia police officers suffered minor injuries while trying to arrest a suspect in Rittenhouse Square.

It happened 10 a.m. Saturday on the 100 block of South 20th Street.

Officers were called to the area. When they arrived they saw a suspect attempting to burglarize the Rittenhouse Pet Supply store.

They managed to capture the suspect, but suffered minor injuries during the altercation.

The officers were taken to a nearby hospital for observation, but are expected to be OK.
