CDC offers tips to protect yourself from foodborne illness
CDC offers tips to protect yourself from foodborne illness - Monica Maplass reports during Action News at 5pm on January 10, 2018.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The CDC again says it's too soon to blame romaine lettuce for an e.coli outbreak that's killed 2 people and sickened more than 50 others.

Canadian officials last week urged people to stay away from Romaine. While the investigation continues, health officials issued some reminders for avoiding foodborne illnesses.

First, stay away from raw or undercooked foods and make sure all fruits & vegetables are either cooked or thoroughly cleaned.

Keep cold foods cold, hot foods hot, and cooked food away from raw items.

Also, don't drink raw milk - it's been the culprit in past outbreaks.
