3 rescued from capsized boat on Delaware River

Rescuers were called to the Delaware River after a sailboat flipped over.

NEW CASTLE, Del. (WPVI) -- It was a close call for three people after high winds flipped over their sailboat in New Castle County, Delaware this afternoon.

It happened on the Delaware River off Battery Park in New Castle just before 5:00 p.m. Saturday.

Officials say high winds caused a sailboat to capsize.

Two men and a woman who were onboard had to be rescued.

The three were checked on shore and did not require medical attention.

It took rescue crews about a half hour to remove the boat from the water.
