Store clerk assaulted during violent University City robbery

Philadelphia police are searching for two suspects who assaulted a store clerk during a robbery in University City.

UNIVERSITY CITY (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police are looking for two suspects who assaulted a store clerk during a violent robbery in University City.

The incident happened on December 11 at 9:30 p.m.

According to police, the clerk was closing the Radio Shack store located at 212 South 40th Street when the masked men forced their way in.

Surveillance cameras were rolling as they pushed the clerk into a back office area and took turns assaulting him.

They hauled off several bags and boxes of merchandise down a storage corridor before fleeing in a silver sedan.

Police describe the first suspect as a light complected male, possibly Hispanic, 30 years-old with a stocky build. He was wearing glasses, dark colored Navy hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

The second suspect is described as a black male, 30 years-old with a stocky build. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a black & white hood.
