Man shot in the head in Overbrook dies

OVERBROOK (WPVI) -- Police say a man has died a day after he was found with a gunshot wound to the head in Overbrook.

The shooting happened Wednesday evening at North 65th Street and Lansdowne Avenue.

Police responded to the report of a shooting and arrived to find a man in his 20s shot once in the head.

He was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in critical condition. He died from his wounds on Thursday.

The suspected shooter is believed to have fled on foot on Lansdowne Avenue toward North 66th Street.

No word on a motive.

This is Philadelphia's 16th homicide. As with all homicides, the city is offering a $20,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible.
