Woman arrested in attempted robbery of Edible Arrangements

DOVER, Del. (WPVI) -- Delaware State Police have arrested a woman in connection with an attempted robbery at an Edible Arrangements in a Dover shopping center.

The suspect is identified as 21-year-old Alaya McDonald of Dover.

Police were called at approximately 12:05 p.m. Wednesday to the store located at 140 Gateway South Boulevard for the report of an attempted robbery.

Police say McDonald entered the Edible Arrangements and handed the 26-year-old female employee a note implying she had a gun and demanded money.

After the employee told McDonald that she didn't have any money, the suspect left the store.

Police tracked McDonald to the Best Western Galaxy Inn on the 1700 block of East Lebanon Road.

She was located in her hotel room and taken into custody.

McDonald was committed to Delores J. Baylor Women's Correctional Institution on $5,000 cash bond.
