4 people in custody after a police chase ended in Wynnefield
Police have taken four people into custody after a pursuit through West Philadelphia that ended in the city's Wynnefield section.

WYNNEFIELD (WPVI) -- Five people were arrested after a pursuit through West Philadelphia that ended in the city's Wynnefield section.

It began around 2 a.m. Thursday when police responded to shots being fired on the 800 block of Alden Street.

At that location, police took a another man allegedly with a gun into custody. That man was seen getting out of a vehicle that would later being involved the pursuit.

Police say while the man was being taking into custody, the driver and three occupants in the vehicle sped off.

They attempted to stop the driver who took off towards Lancaster Avenue.

Police chased the car onto the Schuylkill Expressway, and finally caught up with the vehicle at Belmont and Monument avenues in front of the State Police Barracks.

A total of four men and one woman were taken into custody for questioning.

The car remains stopped at the Belmont Barracks. Police are waiting for a tow and a warrant to search the vehicle.

Investigators checked the scene where it all began and have found no evidence of a crime.

There were no injuries to the officers or occupants in the car during the pursuit.
