Suspect sought in gas station robbery in South Philadelphia

Police have released surveillance video of an armed robbery inside a gas station in South Philadelphia.

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police are investigating an armed robbery inside a gas station in South Philadelphia.

It happened on February 4 at the Sunoco gas station located on the 1800 block of Oregon Avenue.

The suspect was captured on surveillance video entering the store at 5:45 p.m.

He approached an employee at the counter and pointed a handgun, demanding money.

After employee placed an unknown amount of cash into a red bag, the gunman then fled the store heading east on Oregon Avenue towards 18th Street.

Police describe the suspect as a black male, 25 years-old, 5'10" tall with a thin build. He was wearing a gray hooded jacket with a white inner lining, dark colored pants, pink shoe laces, black scarf or bandana covering face, and armed with a handgun.
