Fire forces out high-rise residents in Washington Square

A fire ignited in a high-rise building in Philadelphia's Washington Square East section.

The fire broke out just after 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday on the sixth floor of the occupied apartment building.

Firefighters fought the blaze for about 30 minutes before getting it under control.

Fire crews say all residents including a few of the children managed to get out without being injured.

No word yet on what started the fire.

An investigation into what may have sparked the blaze is underway.
