Driver critical after crashing into tree on MLK Drive

FAIRMOUNT PARK (WPVI) -- A driver is in critical condition after crashing into a tree along Martin Luther King Drive in Fairmount Park.

It happened around 9:00 p.m. Sunday near Sweerbriar Drive.

A man in his 40s was behind the wheel of a City of Philadelphia vehicle when he lost control and crashed.

The vehicle overturns trapping the man inside.

He was freed was taken to Penn-Presbyterian Hospital in critical condition.

Police are investigating.
