Clerk put in choke hold during robbery in North Philadelphia

Police are searching for two suspects who robbed a market in North Philadelphia yesterday afternoon.

NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police have released surveillance video of a brazen robbery at a market in North Philadelphia yesterday afternoon.

It happened just before 2 p.m. at the La Canasta Market on the 600 block of North 12th Street.

After spending 15 minutes browsing inside the store, both suspects can be seen jumping behind the counter and grabbing the clerk by the neck - forcing him to open the cash register.

The robbers grabbed an unknown amount of cash from the register and several packs of cigarettes before fleeing the scene.

Police describe the first suspect as a black male, 16-17 years-old and heavy set. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with a yellow zipper and "PUMA" in yellow across one sleeve, black pants and light blue sneakers.

The second suspect is described as a black male, 16-17 years-old with a thin build. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with a light blue button-down shirt underneath, black pants, and white sneakers with orange laces.
