PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Mosquito season is here.

Experts say if you want to decrease your chance of becoming a target, be careful of the scent you're giving off.

Mosquitoes are attracted to both body odor and to the deodorants and fragrances we wear.

So stay away from heavy floral scents.

In addition, many skin care products have lactic acid, which mosquitoes love.

"Mosquitoes are attracted to lactic acid and some of the products that we use for rejuvenating purposes have alpha hydroxy acids in them, and this is an attractant to mosquitoes," said Dr. Jennifer Lucas, a dermatologist.

Lucas says some foods and drinks can make you mosquito bait, too.

People with beer in their bloodstream are bitten more often.
