Police: Driver says woman jumped from truck, run over

GLASSBORO, N.J. (WPVI) -- Police in Glassboro, New Jersey have arrested a man in connection with a deadly crash early Wednesday morning.

However, they are still working to determine what exactly happened.

Officers found a 46-year-old woman lying on Mullica Hill Road near Girard Road just before 12:30 a.m.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say the driver involved in the crash left the scene, but returned a short time later.

46-year-old Scott Jahnel of Wisconsin told police the victim was struck after she jumped from his pickup truck.

As the investigation continues, police released a photo of a similar truck to the one involved.

They're asking anyone who may have seen the vehicle or witnessed the incident to call Detective Jack Manning of the Glassboro Police Department at (856) 881-1501.

Jahnel is charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Leaving the Scene of a Fatal Crash, and Endangering an Injured Victim.

A judge set bail at $100,000 and Jahnel is being held at the Salem County Jail.

Police say more charges may be filed when the investigation is complete.
