Microwaving away unwanted underarm hair

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WPVI) -- A device used to reduce underarm sweating has now been approved for permanent hair reduction, too.

Action News first told you about MiraDry in 2012, when the Food & Drug Administration approved it for excessive sweating.

The device uses microwave technology to shut down sweat glands.

During tests for that, many patients also reporting having less underarm hair after their treatments, too.

So after further tests, in late July the company got the FDA's blessing to also sell MiraDry as MiraSmooth.

It can be used for all skin colors.
