VIDEO: Suspect sought in Bensalem home invasion, sex assault
Investigators are looking for a man seen in surveillance video after a home invasion and sexual assault.

BENSALEM, Pa. -- Police have made an arrest following a home invasion and sex assault in Bensalem, Pa. over the weekend.

Derrick Anderson, 21, was arrested on Tuesday morning. He is a homeless man, according to investigators, and was found inside an abandoned car in Philadelphia.

The attack happened at the Lafayette Gardens at 520 Bristol Pike.

The victim says she and her 10-year-old daughter had fallen asleep on their living room couch while watching a movie on Friday night.

Then, right around 5 o'clock Saturday morning, she opened her eyes to find a strange man on top of her.

"The next thing I remember is being awake. There's a man in my living room and he had his arms around me, holding me, so I could not move," she said.

That's when her daughter, who was asleep just a few feet away, woke up and screamed.

"That startled him enough that I was able to get my arms free and push him and kick him and get him to the front door. With one final push I was able to get him out and he ran," the victim said.

A few moments later surveillance video showed the suspect entering the nearby Sunoco on Frankford Avenue and Knights Road.

The victim is just grateful that her daughter was not injured.

"She is 10 years old, and she's worried that she didn't do enough, that her mom had to go through something and she couldn't help. I told her, 'Look, your only job is to stay safe,'" she said.
