NEW CASTLE, Del. (WPVI) -- A Delaware community is on high alert after a man was found dead inside a New Castle home.

The body was discovered Thursday night at the end of a cul-de-sac on the 900 block of Eider Court.

Police identified as 47-year-old Shawn Spence of New Castle.

An arrest warrant was issued Saturday for 52-year-old Gregory Parker, the owner of the home in which Spence was discovered.

Police were called to the home around 10 p.m. for a welfare check.

Once inside, police say they discovered the body of Spence on the first floor having suffered significant injuries.

Cpl. Tracey Duffy of New Castle County Police explains, "With enough knowledge and experience and training they (officers) know that it's not a natural death."

Adrian Toscano says when he saw flashing lights outside Parker's house late Thursday night he knew something was wrong.

Toscano says, "We were watching the news and we saw there was a homicide, so we were really kind of shook."

Police are investigating a suspicious death after finding a man's body inside a home in New Castle, Delaware.

On Friday, officers continued to investigate, removing evidence from the home and shooting video footage.

Police want to stress that Spence and Parker knew each other. Still, neighbors say it's unsettling.

Carmen Freeman of New Castle says, "It's just scary. Knowing that nothing's never happened around here and this happened right next door to you. I'm shook up."

Parker is described as a black male, 6 feet 8 inches, 225 pounds.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call 1-800-TIP-3333.
