PARAMUS, N.J. -- Authorities say a northern New Jersey man with an apparent affinity for Red Bull robbed three people this year so he could get the drinks.

Eddie Johnson faces robbery, kidnapping and weapons charges.

Paramus police say the 27-year-old Clifton man approached a woman in February and made her drive him to a store. He then told her to buy $70 worth of Red Bull.

Police say Johnson struck again last month when he took a man's smartphone and $30.

The latest robbery occurred last week, when he allegedly forced a man to drive to two ATMs at knifepoint to withdraw $60. Police say Johnson also forced the man to drive to a store because he wanted more Red Bull.

It wasn't known Wednesday if Johnson has retained an attorney.
