PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Community leaders are pleading for peace after six children were shot in Philadelphia within the last week alone.
The latest young victim is the 12-year-old girl hit by a stray bullet Tuesday night, as she left a corner store in North Philadelphia.
On Wednesday, members of the Million Father March weighed in on the violence and signed a peace pledge at City Hall.
"It takes a village to raise a child. We're asking fathers who may not feel adequate because of income to step up and be a father irrespective. We're asking people who have been successful at being fathers to do a second tour of duty," Councilman Curtis Jones said.
The Million Father March is now getting ready for its annual back-to-school walk, where men will take their children to school.
It's a symbol of their year-long commitment to supporting their child's education.
