Law enforcement in Montgomery County rounded up nearly a dozen suspected deadbeat parents.

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (WPVI) -- Montgomery County's sheriff announced that nine people were arrested overnight in a surprise sweep of suspected deadbeat parents.

They were brought into the county courthouse in Norristown Wednesday morning.

Some covered their faces; one was just in his underwear.

"One of the individuals was found hiding in the closet," Montgomery County Sheriff Russell Bono said.

Around 1:00 a.m., sheriff's deputies went out with 22 warrants in hand.

They served eight of those warrants.

A ninth person was arrested by local police.

The total amount of arrears for those arrested was $66,382.90, representing nine children.

However, some parents remain at large.

"Turn yourself in. We send a notice out to you. Turn yourself in to our office before we come out and drag you in," Sgt. Joanne Plasterer of the Warrants Division said.
