DARBY, Pa. (WPVI) -- The man on trial for a fatal shooting on the grounds of Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital in Darby, Delaware County has pleaded guilty.

Richard plots pleaded guilty Tuesday to first degree murder but mentally ill, attempted murder, and weapons charges.

It was on July 24, 2014 when investigators say Plotts pulled out a gun inside the Wellness Center and shot his caseworker, Teresa Hunt, killing her.

He also wounded psychiatrist Dr. Lee Silverman, who was carrying his own gun and shot Plotts.

Investigators said Plotts was angry because the hospital posted a sign declaring the building a 'gun-free zone.'

Plotts remains jailed at Montgomery County's Graterford Prison. Sentencing is set for September 25th.
