NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police have identified the man charged with hitting a 6-year-old girl then fleeing the scene on foot Saturday evening in Northeast Philadelphia.
27-year-old Mark Edwards of the 6600 block of Sylvester Street is charged with Criminal Mischief, Accident Damage and related offenses.
It happened around 7:00 p.m. Saturday.
Police say Edwards first got into an accident at Magee Avenue and Large Street, then fled that scene.
He ended up in the 6600 block of Sylvester Street, where he lives.
Police say he then struck a 6-year-old girl who was walking down the street and hit three parked cars before jumping out of his vehicle and fleeing on foot.
He was captured a short time later.
The girl was taken to Saint Christopher's Hospital for Children in stable condition and treated for broken bones.
Police continue to investigate.
