A driver was critically burned after a car fire in Wilmington, Delaware.

WILMINGTON, Del. (WPVI) -- A driver was seriously injured after his clothes caught fire following a car crash in Wilmington, Delaware.

The incident happened before 5 a.m. Friday on the 2500 block of North Market Street.

A witness said they saw the car coming down the road and it struck a building.

They heard a boom then saw the car on fire.

The driver and car were fully engulfed in flames.

Police say the driver managed to get out of the vehicle and run a half a block with his clothes on fire before collapsing.

He was rushed to Christiana Hospital in critical condition.

Investigators are going through the wreckage for clues as to what sparked the fire.
