Driver injured after car slams into tree in West Mt. Airy

WEST MT. AIRY (WPVI) -- A woman was hospitalized after her car crashed into a tree in Philadelphia's West Mt. Airy section.

It happened around 10:00 p.m. Thursday near Wissahickon Avenue and West Allens Lane.

The victim, a woman in her 40s, lost control of her car and struck the tree.

She was taken to Einstein Medical Center for serious injuries.

No one else was injured.

The accident is under investigation.
