WILMINGTON (WPVI) -- One Delaware family says they will continue on with their plan to distribute holiday meals to the less fortunate even after they lost everything in a fire.
The Parker family and six of their children were forced from their Wilmington home on Sunday.
The family had been working on a service project for the Fairy Godsisters of Delaware.
They had been collecting food and storing it in their home, but most of it got damaged in the fire.
"Unfortunately, we lost everything, but we promised and people are counting on us. I just don't think we should just throw the project away," Coko Parker said.
And while the Parker family is helping others, their community plans to help them.
There's a benefit at The City of Victory church at 2900 N. Vanburen Street in Wilmington Thursday night. It starts at 7:30 p.m.
Anyone who wants to attend is welcome to donate to help the family and can also make donations to the Parker Family Fire Fund Del-One Federal Credit Union.
The family can also be reached through the church by contacting Stacey Robinson at 302-494-7621.
